Friends, It is our great pleasure to announce that our Civic Mapping Initiative has been acquired by the National League of Cities. A trusted partner to more than 2,700 cities across the nation, National League of Cities (NLC) will invest in — and scale — the Civic Mapping Initiative as a new program and resource for cities, housed in NLC’s Center for Research and Data Analysis. As part of the transaction, we are thrilled to share that the Initiative’s co-founder, Dr. Matthew Crespi, has joined the National League of Cities. With five new bus stops at Head Start preschools — and multiple additional stops expected at community colleges and Head Start locations in 2024 — our Civic Mapping Initiative has improved the landscape for Americans accessing childcare, job training, and postsecondary education. Generating more than 30 feature articles across local and national media outlets and active bipartisan legislation in less than three years, the Civic Mapping Initiative also has expanded the conversation about connection between transit and economic mobility. Our partners at the National League of Cities will take this work to the next level by supporting thousands of communities to close these critical "last mile" gaps, thereby expanding access to opportunity across the country.
